SP0008 Sukita project. Kayan Handwoven 100% cotton scarf/ tablerunner. $72. Sky blue and black, approximately 34cm W x 180cm L. These amazingly beautiful and fine hand-woven scarves are made by several Kayan Hilltribe women from Burma, who lived in a refugee camp in Thailand for almost 20 years before coming to NZ as part of the UNHCR Quota accepted by NZ each year. They now live in Nelson with their families, where they make these scarves to preserve their culture.
Our usual donation of 10% of the price will go to the Community English and Craft Class project run by English Language Partners in Nelson, who have helped in the resettlement process of the ladies and their families. For more about the CECC and the Sukita Project, read our downloads
