SOLD SAK10 Turkish textile necklace with Turkomen pendant
SOLD SAK10 Turkish textile necklace with vintage Turkomen metal pendant Total length of band c. 97cm (ie c. 41cm long when worn) and pendant is approximately 4.5cm deep. Weight 80gms. This comes from one of our favourite Turkish artisan jewellers, and is his own very personal variation on the Ottoman revival style made famous by designer Gonul Paksoy. Characteristic of this style is the use of upcycled elements, precious metals and/or stones, and elements that refer back to some real or mythical past. Once again this piece uses the carpetweaver's craft of binding and tassle-making, to create a distinctive piece. The vintage pendant is possibly Alpacca - a copper alloy with nickel and often zinc. It does NOT contain silver but may be silver-plated. It contains a red glass central element, which is characteristic of Turkomen tribal jewellery of this genre. The pendant itself has obviously had its own adventures - the back is very crumpled, but still intact - again this is part of its charm. Happy to send any potential buyer a photo of the back if requested.
